Honey*: Wild/Organic/Unpasteurised
Diabetic chocolate/sweets (Occasional treats only)
Drinks: Diabetic or sugar-free squash, Aqualibra unsweetened fruit juice, diet drinks, etc.
Biscuits: Some cereal bars, diabetic biscuits, flapjacks with honey(occasionally)
Sugar-free baked beans: Whole Earth or Meridion range
Cereals: There are very few sugar-free cereals around, e.g. Puffed Wheat or Rice, Shredded Wheat, some muesli, porridge, etc. Check health stores.
Jam: Look for sugar-free diabetic options.
Xylitol: A low calorie suitable sugar substitute
*Honey, raw unpasteurised types are surprisingly different to sugar. It takes longer to raise blood sugar levels, causes less insulin and cholesterol responses and is anti-inflammatory, whereas sugar is a big promoter of inflammation. Honey does contain calories, just like sugar and so keep the amounts down.
