Neuralgia

There are six types of neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is the most common type.

Sharp, sudden pain that follows the path of a nerve is the main characteristic of neuralgia. It happens due to damage or irritation to the nerve. The area may hurt to touch, but still functions as it normally would.

Structural issues can cause neuralgia, as there may be too much pressure on a nerve. Excess force on a nerve might be caused by injury, poor posture, pregnancy, or having a sedentary lifestyle.

Vitamin B12 deficiencies can also lead to neuralgia. Our industry leading tests can confirm nutritional imbalances.

Neuralgia is also associated with underlying conditions. MS is a cause; as is diabetes, and shingles, which can cause inflammation of nerves. Viruses can also cause inflammation, leading to neuralgia.
