Leaky gut

A key function of our gut is intestinal permeability, as this allows for absorption of nutrients and water. But, when the lining of your gut becomes damaged and more porous, this is known as leaky gut.

If you have leaky gut, your intestinal lining allows large molecules, like bacteria, toxins and partially digested food, to pass into your bloodstream.

Leaky gut is a cyclical problem. Issues like excess bad bacteria in the gut (known as dysbiosis) and food intolerances can both cause leaky gut, and be a consequence of it. Because leaky gut worsens your gut microbiome it leads to more gut-related problems.

Our Hong Kong naturopaths can heal the lining of your gut and put an end to gut-related issues naturally.

Leaky gut causes digestive problems, including stomach pain, bloating, gas, diarrhoea and constipation.

It also causes fatigue, brain fog and headaches.

Skin problems, like spots and dry, flaky skin.

Food intolerances.

An imbalanced gut microbiome is a key factor. Food intolerances can also contribute to and exacerbate leaky gut.

Dysbiosis, which is often caused by chronic poor diet and stress.

Excessive alcohol use and drug use can damage your intestinal lining.

Autoimmune problems and other gut-related conditions.

Our naturopaths help heal and strengthen your gut lining. Using industry leading tests, they can assess the overall health of your gut, and whether you’re experiencing food intolerances.

Then, they’ll personalise a treatment plan to strengthen the lining of your gut, and recommend lifestyle changes, like dietary regimens and stress reduction to support your digestive health.

If needed, they can also refer you to our counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists to reduce your stress levels.
